Our Accomplishments

During the 2007 Legislative Session:

  • Published a comprehensive policy agenda.
  • Met with legislators and the Governor regarding MWV’s 2007 Legislative Agenda.
  • Sent weekly legislative email updates and action items to over 300 Montanans.
  • Hosted educational and action-oriented events at the capitol and local trainings and updates.
  • Helped pass bills that increased women's access to family planning, raised CHIP eligibility levels, improved domestic violence and sexual assault laws, and helped block efforts to push back same-day voter registration.

In the 2006 Election Cycle:

  • Expanded the involvement of constituents via our Leadership Development Program.
  • Gathered signatures and provided education for the minimum wage initiative.
  • Registered over 3,000 voters – the majority of whom were lower-income women.
  • Mailed issue education and absentee ballot request forms to nearly 10,000 Montanans.
  • Distributed voter guides to 13,000 people informing of candidates' positions and ballot initiatives important to women and families.
  • Hosted educational events and forums.
  • Contributed to increased turnout in the 5 MWV counties – midterm turnout was 56% to 75%.

During the 2005 Legislative Session:

  • Published a comprehensive policy agenda.
  • Met with legislators and the Governor regarding MWV's 2005 Legislative Agenda.
  • Helped pass bills that allowed late voter registration, covered 7,000 more low-income children under CHIP and Medicaid, increased TANF and child support payments, protected patients' access to health care clinics (MT first pro-choice bill), and secured funding for domestic violence and sexual assault services.

In the 2004 Election Cycle:

  • Registered over 7,000 voters statewide.
  • Achieved a 77% voter turnout rate of voters we registered in the November 04 election.
  • Conducted voter outreach in 5 communities.
  • Distributed education materials to 20,000 voters.
